Kokoro Clover SUN - Prehistoric Invaders! - Game beaten

What I did in the game: Game beaten.

The One Picture I have taken: Ending screen.

After many years, we've got a sequel to Kokoro Clover Season 1! The first game was truly a passion project. Gameplay-wise, it was a 2D Platformer, but not a really great one. Really stiff and basic. BUT the true thing that made Kokoro Clover speacial was that it was like watching a saturday morning anime from the early 2000s, complete with opening, ads, and all the cliche you were expecting. It was touching, hilarious, and just pure fun to go through if you were taking it more as a Visual Novel than a platforming game. Plus it has incredible pixel arts to convey everything, along with great music. And also tons of extra stuffs to collect. Really loved Season 1 to death.

So, I was really surprised to see this pop-up after all this time on the e-Shop. I was thinking "Finally, Season 2 is here"! But Season 2 this is not. You know in anime, in between seasons, you sometimes have that weird filler movie which has nothing to do with the original plot, and once it ends, everything go back to what it was, like nothing happened? Well, Kokoro Clover SUN is just that. Something in-between Season 1 and 2 where our heroes go back to the dinosaur period to confront the vilain of the movie and stop his evil plot. The game is truly smaller in scope. You only have 4 Episodes instead of the 12-13 of the first game, which truly feels like the length of a movie. There's not even a new opening. Season 1 opening play once Episode 1 starts, but then, nothing. Gone also are the platforming stages. You only have one boss battle during each episode (though as a bonus, they allow you to play with different characters this time). And along with the smaller game, you also have less bonus stuff. Only thing you have now is a boss rush and a library.

But dont think I didnt liked my experience. The great pixel arts and 4th-wall breaking humor is still here! You just have to go in it without expecting Season 2. It's a small project while we wait for the TRUE Season 2 (and the price reflects that). So as such, it was really a fun ride that in a way, still really pay hommage to the anime cliche by giving us the Anime Filler Movie, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loved the first game!
