Pokémon Legends: ZA Mega Dimension DLC - 100% completed

What I did in the game: Pokédex: 232/232. Hyperspace Pokédex: 132/132. Mega Evolution: 88/88. Side Missions: 203/203. Colorful Screws: 100/100. Mable's Research: LV50.

The One Picture I have taken: Save screen, since it shows both the Main and Hyperspace Pokédex.

I won't go into details about the base game. I've already did it back on release, and you can see my opinion here. Just so you know, I'm one of the few people I guess who totally fell in love with this game, even with it's flaws. I think it has the best gameplay the series ever has, so I was anticipating this DLC.

Let's go with the BAD already. This is still the same set-up as the base game. Instead of Lumiose City, you'll be going through some kind of bizarro version of it called Hyperspace Lumiose. You do so by creating doughnut, and making Hoopa eat them, giving you access to these Hyperspace for a limited time. So asset-wise it will be mostly the same (there's a few fun exception toward the end). Also, after you reach the end of the post-game of this DLC, it can become a RNG nightmare to 100% complete it (which I will explain), but fortunately, everything went quickly for me, so maybe it's programmed so that you eventually gets everything at a certain pace? I can't tell.

As for the positive, well I truly enjoyed the loop in this DLC. Like I said previously, once you enter Hyperspace, you're on a timer to explore it, catch what you need to catch and complete missions quickly to get points to progress in the DLC story. Those fast-paced Pokémon experience were really thrilling for me and I was truly enjoying the race. We're not speaking speedrun level here, it's just that you just can't hang around and chill. Once you're in hyperspace, it's always action time. And even more so with the added difficulty level of this DLC. You see, the doughnut you eat actually can make you go temporarily past LV100. We're speaking up to LV200. And unlike the standard Pokémon base game where no one seems to go beyond LV80 or something, here, you'll be battling tons of LV200 (and even LV100 enemies outside Hyperspace), and yeah, this gets really challenging. Even more with the new Rogue Mega Evolution battles which were really the peak of awesomeness in the Pokémon series for me. I truly feel some of the content here was made for all the people complaining about how easy Pokémon games can be.

So, I truly enjoyed the loop, the difficulty and all the new Mega Evolutions. The story though is truly somewhere in the middle. It begins really boring, but I truly enjoyed the end of it, which I felt was darker. Another thing in the middle is like I said the DLC postgame. Once you have completed everything, you're then in a loop to collect 25000 points, and then do a "Special Scan". Those Special Scans will make one new 5 Stars Hyperspace appear on the map, and it may includes many things. Battle Zones, Catch Area or even a zone with a Legendary or Mythical to catch. Obviously what you want are Catch Area with new Pokémons (Green Hyperspace) and the Legendary/Mythical Hyperspace (Yellow) and NO Battle Zone (Red). BUT, what you get is 100% random, and you can't save scum your way out of it (at least not at the time of this writing), everything seem to be determined in advance. So I was scared I would get stuck in RNG Hell, but by just playing normally, by the time I was collecting another set of 999 Gimmighoul Coins for my Living Pokédex, I already found all the zones I needed to completed my Hyperspace Pokédex. So I'm wondering if the game just don't favor you with something you're missing at one point. Time and people with more knowledge will tell.

In the end, I truly enjoyed this DLC. Like the Base Game, there's some downside, and if you don't like the more fast-paced loop, obviously it will not be for you. But for me, it was more of the great gameplay I've enjoyed in the base game, in a more challenging format, so I was all for it. That's it for now, but you can also check my completion video below showing everything in details:
