Yes, I went there. I just got my Virtual Boy accessory for the Nintendo Switch. Up until last week, I was really under the impression that Nintendo would allow the Virtual Boy for NSO app to be played in 2D. I was a fool I guess...even more since I went and bought the stupid accessory to play the games. And not just the Labo Carton Board cheap reject, but the whole Virtual Boy replica for more than $100. I really wanted to experience Wario Land VB in its true format I guess.
First thing, it's really awesome looking. It has a great weight to it, and it doesnt feel cheap at all. If it was not for the fact that you need to insert a Switch to play VB games, you would truly believe you have the real thing. As such, even if just for the display on my shelf, it was worth it. So, when I finally managed to find how to open the thing to insert my Switch, I was able to try the VB app. I first tried it with the Switch 1. First thing I've noticed, I can't play this without glasses (I mean, my every day glasses, not the VB glasses). I don't know, I was under the impression that I would be able to play without them, but it's all blury for me (I also have 0 VR experience, so...). But even with my glasses on, and even if I tried to adjust the screen depth, I could not get a good picture on my Switch 1. Either I was seeing double, or I couldnt see the entire screen.
I was really disappointed, so I've tried it on the Switch 2. And maybe it was the bigger screen, but after some adjustements, it was perfect. So maybe it's only a me problem because of my bad vision, but this is unplayable on Switch 1, but perfect on Switch 2. The experience may be different for you, but it's one thing to keep in mind before buying this. Other than that, the 3D effect is really cool, but I will have to play more to see if it gets unconfortable quickly. I'll talk about it again once I managed to finish Wario Land VB.
