What I did in the game: Game beaten.
The One Picture I have taken: Ending screen.
This game is the end of my curation quest. I've played a lot of games that I wasnt sure if I wanted to keep or not. Many got deleted after playing a little, and others I liked so much that I ended up beating them in one go. But this is the only game that I'll be deleting AFTER having beating it. First of all, this is a sequel (kind of) to 2064: Read Only Memories, a point-and-click adventure game that I really liked. It got Snatcher inspiration for sure but with more political messaging, which didnt bothered me much since it was in a cyberpunk setting, so it all seemed natural. It was a fun thriller, with good question about robots, AI and their place in our society. It also had an amazing soundtrack, godly pixel arts and LOT of bonus contents. So when I saw this game, I jumped on it without hesitation...I should have read more about it beforehand.
First of all, this is more akin to a Visual Novel (not a bad thing mind you, but a departure from the first game). You do have minimal point-and-click sections, but they're so straightforward. There's only one path to follow now, your choice having no impact on anything. It almost felt like a kinetic VN. If only the story was good, hence why I pressed on until the end, wishing for a good reveal, but nope, it was 100% predictable. Your character can dive into the head of people to correct their bogus memories, which was a cool concept, but the memories were all boring, and overall it was just about an emotional journey than anything else. If you like people talking about their feelings in a video game, this may be for you. But personally I found that boring (same reason why I deleted game like Gris, even if I know lot of people liked it). The game ended, I felt empty about the time I've wasted on it, and quickly deleted the game. There was no bonus, once the credits are done, you're back to the title screen. It was a REALLY SHORT straight line from point A to point B in boring story. At least the pixel art and music were still awesome. If you wanted more 2064, you can move along, this is not it. I'm rarely negative about video games, and maybe this "game" is for you if you wanted to see some of the 2064 characters come back and chat with them a little. But it was totally not for me. It should have been a free tiny bonus for the original game, it then may have been a better pill to swallow.
