What I did in the game: Game beaten with best ending.
The One Picture I have taken: Ending screen.
This is a follow-up for my Virtual Boy experience on Switch, which you can read here. Wario Land was the main reason why I wanted the Virtual Boy accessory to begin with. The first Wario Land was one of my most played Game Boy game when I was young, and while I liked 2 and 3, I liked the gameplay style of 1 even more. And Virtual Boy Wario Land is basically a true sequel to the first game. You're going through stages, finding treasures, collecting coins and you can actually die in this one like in the first game. The amount of treasures and coins (and the time it took to beat the game this time) will determine the ending. Everything in the game was amazing, except for the fact that it's criminally short. The game is only 10 stages long and 4 boss. First time around, it took me just above 2 hours to finish it 100%. And on my second playthrough for the best ending, only 41 minutes. I'm sure speed-runner have this one under 30 or even 20 minutes even at 100%. But while it lasts, it's really fun.
As for the 3D effect, it was really great too. Wario can go in between 2 planes, and there's many sprites with 3D effect in them. The boss in particular were really impressive. Unfortunately, to enjoy the full experience, you need to actually use the dreaded Virtual Boy. And no matter what I've tried, there was no confortable way to play it, it was either too high, too low, too far, too close. In fact, after trying to play this sitted on a chair for a while, I gave up and found the ultimate way to play it. Laid in bed, with the VB legs on your stomach so it doesnt move. In that position, I was able to enjoy it the most without hurting too much. What a painful experience it must have been, I don't understand what was going through their head back then to create such an atrocity. On the Switch 2, you "COULD" technically play it without the accessory, by zooming the screen at 1.3, but it's just barely playable. To really enjoy it, you need to play it through the accessory, and then you'll suffer. Why Nintendo won't allow this to be played in 2D is beyond me. In fact, even the screenshots you take are atrocious to look at, so sorry for that. Anyway, I was glad to enjoy VB Wario Land the way it was meant to be played, and I'm glad to have the Virtual Boy for Switch as something to show off. But it's REALLY not worth it to spend any mone, except if you REALLY REALLY want to live the full Virtual Boy experience badly.
